Prince William is not coming to the event

The British Academy Television Awards will be held in London next Sunday (May 12th). Prince William probably won’t be there.
Since 2010, Prince William, 41, has been the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and a welcome guest at the annual awards ceremonies. However, the heir to the British throne will not be present at the BAFTA TV Awards next Sunday, May 12th. That reports the film portal “Deadline”.
However, Prince William does not leave the event completely uncommented. He will record a video message for the nominees and guests. This will then be played during the ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in London. It’s not unusual for the royals to only attend one of the two BAFTAs.
Prince William arrived at the BAFTA Film Awards
Prince William attended the BAFTA Film Awards in February. He did not attend the event as usual accompanied by his wife Kate, 42, who was recovering from abdominal surgery at the time. Despite the already tense situation in the British royal family, William smiled brightly at the event. As a reminder, her cancer diagnosis had apparently not yet been made at the time, or at least not yet publicly communicated. The princess is currently in the middle of her cancer treatment.
The BAFTA TV Awards are held every year to honor the best of British television. This year they have a particularly strong royal connection, as several actors from “The Crown” are nominated. In season six, the series covered the reign of Prince William’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). Dominic West (54, plays Prince Charles), Elizabeth Debicki (33, plays Princess Diana), Lesley Manville (68, Princess Margaret) and Salim Daw (73, plays Mohamed Al-Fayed) can hope for a trophy.
