Bahn converts popular service: What customers will soon have to adapt to

Anyone who frequently travels with Deutsche Bahn can collect bonus points for every ticket purchased. These can then be redeemed for bonuses (“BahnBonus”) or special status upgrades in connection with the BahnCard. The latter system, previously known as “BahnComfort”, will soon be integrated into “BahnBonus”. This will also result in some changes for train drivers.

As Deutsche Bahn reveals on its own page about the system, the changes will come into effect on June 13, 2022. So-called status customers will then be assigned a new status level depending on the current score. These three levels are reached at 1,500 points, 2,500 points or 6,000 status points.

However, the company does not go into detail. The new bonuses, which result from the status levels, should not be revealed until June. However, according to Deutsche Bahn, customers can look forward to the previous services such as entry to the DB lounge or an exclusive seating area. Priority care at the Deutsche Bahn travel center is also to be integrated into the stages.

However, the company already reveals that the higher tiers also include the bonuses of the lower tiers. In addition, all customers who have achieved BahnComfort status at the time of the changeover should receive at least the middle status level.

According to Deutsche Bahn, the switch is based on customer feedback. From this it became clear that customers want a broader and more exclusive range of points. In order to achieve this, a classification into different stages is essential.
