(Boursier.com) — Baidu , the Chinese Internet giant, gained another 5% before market on Wall Street. The group best known for its search engine said it had obtained a permit to provide a fully driverless transport service in the Chinese capital of Beijing. Thus, Baidu’s Apollo service will deploy 10 fully autonomous vehicles in a technology park developed by the Beijing government. In December, Baidu said it had obtained a license to test the service. Baidu will now operate driverless robotaxi services in three Chinese cities, including Wuhan and Chongqing. Among the group’s other diversification plans, Baidu introduced Ernie Bot this week, an artificial intelligence chatbot aimed at competing with ChatGPT.
