#Balancetongrossophobe: On Twitter, Internet users denounce grossophobia

Since this morning of Tuesday June 30, a hashtag is more and more used on Twitter: #balancetongrossophobe. Many victims of grossophobia have denounced the discrimination they have suffered. Suffice to say that some testimonies are alarming as grossophobia, even today, remains very present in the daily life of certain individuals. Many have also told humiliating and hurtful anecdotes that they received from their attending physician. Remarks which should not take place so intrusive and, above all, insulting.

Then, others expressed the grossophobia that they have suffered daily since childhood, in the playground for example. Mockery, humiliation and the lack of support from adults, parents or teachers are omnipresent for many. It is a plague which, still in 2020, we are trying to fight. If the hashtag started from a good intention, it was unfortunately a means for others to decribute the cause. Some have used it to make people victims of grossophobia feel guilty.
