Easy cleaning, a stylish look or flexible handling: which balcony covering is the best depends on your wishes. We introduce you to 5 beautiful floors for balconies.

The best balcony covering

The best balcony covering depends on what you like and what the general conditions are. Ask yourself:

  • Which style suits the house / apartment best?
  • Should the balcony covering remain in the long term?
  • How can the balcony flooring be laid?
  • Can the covering be removed again if necessary?
  • How much weather can the soil tolerate?
  • How much maintenance can be invested in the flooring?

Before you decide on a flooring, you should know exactly what conditions it should meet. Here we introduce you to the most popular floors.

Balcony covering: 5 floors that make your balcony more beautiful

1. Carpet

The simplest variant for a balcony covering is an outdoor carpet. These are available in different designs and sizes. There is something for every balcony size. Outdoor carpets are often made of polypropylene or polyester and are usually hard-wearing and robust. A carpet is also suitable as a short or medium-term solution if a move is imminent. In addition, a carpet can be quickly replaced if it no longer serves its purpose.

  • advantage: A carpet is easy to get hold of and easy to clean, and it is also relatively inexpensive. In bad weather, it can be stored inside the house or in the balcony room if necessary.
  • disadvantage: Laying only possible in available sizes.

2. Liquid plastic

A long-term solution for your balcony covering is liquid plastic. This shape is most often chosen in shades of gray, since dirt is not so easily noticeable and these shades can be easily combined with almost all other colors.

  • advantages: Practical, weather-resistant and restrained appearance.
  • disadvantage: Great effort, best to have a specialist do it.

3. wood

Wood gives every room and every balcony a natural and elegant look. For your balcony covering, you can either lay planks or use wooden tiles that are relatively easy to put together. Bear in mind that a surface made of wood requires more care than products made of e.g. B. plastic.

  • advantages: Natural material looks high quality, is durable and robust.
  • disadvantage: More effort when laying and more maintenance.

4. WPC

WPC is the abbreviation for wood-polymer composites (also wood-plastic composites), which are floorboards or tiles made of wood-polymer materials (or wood-plastic materials). They consist of different proportions of wood fibers and plastic. The risk of cracking or splintering is low, the material is therefore also barefoot-friendly – but be careful in strong sunlight! WPC can heat up.

  • advantages: Easy to clean, attractive appearance, available in many colors, suitable for barefoot, moisture-proof material.
  • disadvantage: Can heat up in strong sunlight, no natural wood look with color gradations and grain.

5. Tiles

Tiles for the balcony are available in the trendy wood look, but also in other designs such as marble look or, if you like it: with artificial turf. If you like it more natural, you can lay natural stone tiles on the balcony.

  • advantages: Many different looks can be selected, mostly easy to lay by plugging together, depending on the material also very easy to care for and robust.
  • disadvantage: Prices vary widely, natural stone is usually more expensive.

Long-term solutions such as liquid plastic as a balcony covering must be carefully considered, while an outdoor carpet offers the highest flexibility for balcony coverings. Many tiles can be laid easily and wood creates a nice atmosphere. Which balcony covering is right for you ?!
