Setting up the balcony: vacation at home
Why dream far away? Staycation holidays are in! And it’s easy to create a holiday mood in our homes, too. If we follow a few tweaks when it comes to furniture and decoration while arranging our balcony, the sea suddenly feels very close. Welcome to your personal 5-star balcony!
Setting up a balcony: 5 simple tips
1. Evergreen plants
2. Upcycling
We shouldn’t get bored either. That’s why the upcycling trend for the garden, terrace and balcony is very convenient for us this year. After our delusion to clean out, we have enough old clothes that we can now put to good use when setting up the balcony: We transform shirts and jeans into flower pots. To do this, simply “put” an old cachepot (but it can also be an excess bucket, cup or can) with the shirt so that the plant sits on the collar and grows out as a head. Knot the shirt behind the jar with the sleeves, cut off the excess fabric.
3. Make your balcony morning-noon-west
Still wanderlust? Then this balcony trend is the right one: We transform the outside area of our apartment into a completely different world. The oriental style is especially popular: Cozy seat cushions in maxi format make even the smallest balcony a comfortable place to feel good and can replace bulky seating furniture. Moroccan tiles or robust carpets also provide the appropriate holiday flair. Now an oriental lantern and the summer evening can come …
4. Batik as a balcony trend
Batik is not only trendy again in fashion – even if we set up a small balcony, the design ensures lightness. Large cloths are not only suitable for lining the railing from the inside and to build a privacy screen, they can also be stretched over furniture to protect against the sun. Hang it on two sticks (or hooks on the upper balcony if available) and let it blow in the wind. Not only protects against sunburn, but also provides a fresh breeze.
5. Scent Garden
It is usually the smells that suddenly throw us into holiday memories in everyday life. The absolute favorite when decorating with plants: lavender, lavender and lavender. Incidentally, it can also be planted in the garden and relaxed. Alternatively, lemon thyme and mint are suitable – then pluck off a leaf, throw it into the cocktail and tadaaa: close your eyes, let the scents unfold their magic and hey presto we feel like we’re in Tuscany. Extra tip: A vertical garden looks great on a small balcony!
