Baldur’s Gate 3 just got surpassed by a game on the Steam platform, and no one saw it coming. Especially since it is a truly special title.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is undoubtedly one of the biggest hits of this year 2023. For many, it is already a cult title that has marked the history of video games. Its popularity is such that it has received eight nominations for the Game Awards 2023. So obviously, we give it good marks almost everywhere, including on the Steam platform. And yet, suddenly, it was surpassed by a small production released on October 23. It’s a general surprise.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of Steam’s highest-rated games of 2023, and before it was dethroned, it held the number 1 spot. Now it’s a close second, closely followed by Resident Evil 4 Remake. But another software has defeated these two titans. Which ? A recent cooperative horror game, which is still in early access, and which is called Lethal Company.
The principle is as simple as pie. You have to go to abandoned moons and recover resources to be able to resell them. On site, there are strange installations, but also various and varied creatures that are ready to give you a real scare. The particularity of this title is that it is developed by… a single person named Zeekerss. Yes, he did indeed make Lethal Company without a big team behind him, which is impressive given his current fame. A reputation that shook up a juggernaut like Baldur’s Gate 3.
The game currently has an average of 8.76 for 102,382 votes, thanks in particular to the popularity it enjoys on Twitch. This allowed it to take the place of Baldur’s Gate 3, but the comparison must be qualified. Larian’s production has a score of 8.69, but for 477,949 votes. The gap between the number of voters is quite striking, and nothing says that Lethal Company would be at the same stage with more than 400,000 votes to its credit. Of course, that doesn’t take away from the feat achieved by a production like this. In any case, we advise you to take a look, because it’s really fun, especially with several people.
BG3 ready to dislodge Lethal Company to return to its throne?
Baldur’s Gate 3 could well see its score increase drastically in the weeks and months to come. For good reason, he recently offered good reasons to come and try his memorable adventure. He first revealed the arrival this week of his next patch 5, which promises to be massive. The latest one brought more than 1000 changes to the experience, which is a good idea.
But the biggest piece by far will be the physical Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3 which will arrive by the first quarter of 2024 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, with a digital version available from December. Its content is mouth-watering, and pre-orders are open. Remember, however, that this is not a limited edition, so don’t be fooled by scammers who sell them at double or even triple their price.
