Baldur’s Gate 3 atomizes everyone, it’s madness!

Nothing can stop Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian Studios’ RPG has just broken a record that quite simply marks a turning point in the history of video games.

Baldur’s Gate 3 had everything to make an impression. Those who are familiar with the saga, the productions of Larian Studios or both at the same time were well aware of this, as were the players who had been able to discover its early access. On the other hand, it was difficult to imagine that he would meet with such exceptional success. Between its peak of players on Steam and its evaluations which border on perfection on Metacritic, the RPG is surely already one of those titles which mark a turning point for its genre, even for the industry in general. With the new record he just broke, Baldur’s Gate 3 will definitely go down in history.

Baldur’s Gate 3 goes a little further into the story

For video game professionals, the opinion of the press is crucial. The evaluations that appear on aggregators like Metacritic or OpenCritic are even more so, especially since players sometimes use this average to decide whether or not to invest in a game. It is precisely on this last platform that Baldur’s Gate 3 comes to break a new record. The RPG simply became the highest rated game in OpenCritic history. With a rating of 97, it equals that of Super Mario Odyssey, but is ahead of the Nintendo Switch game thanks to its “Critics Recommend” indicator of 100%, against 98% for its runner-up. As the platform explains, this index means that all critics recommend playing Baldur’s Gate 3 rather than other titles that come out at the same time.

Note however that Super Mario Odyssey has collected a total of 157 ratings while Baldur’s Gate 3 has only 40 for the moment. The average rating of the game should therefore still evolve according to the release of the tests in the press, which could increase it… or lower it. In any case, the RPG has everyone in its retro for now, including a certain Zelda Tears of the Kingdom released in May. In the top 20, we also find Divinity Original Sin 2, another game from the Belgian studio.

A strong contender for the PS5 release

Even though Baldur’s Gate 3 is already getting praise from all sides, Larian Studios isn’t resting on its laurels. The developers continue to follow their baby and listen to player feedback to deploy patches that improve the gaming experience. The 2.1 update launched last week fixed an issue with save files that could become too large and bring crashes.

Baldur’s Gate 3 could go down in history a little more on September 6, the day of its release on PS5. Starfield will release on PC and Xbox at the same time, so getting 100% reviewer recommendations on OpenCritic might be a lot tougher, but nothing seems to be enough to scare Larian’s game.
