Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on August 3rd and before you embark on the first adventure, the question is of course whether you create your own character or choose one of the original ones from Larian Studios.
This is exactly the question that Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke answered in the Dropped Frames podcast on YouTube. First of all, he advises players to create their own character.

With your own character you can then get to know the original characters and observe them from the outside without having to take over their roles and peculiarities directly. The original characters are included primarily for replay value.
However, it is also not wrong if you choose an original character at the beginning. Then you get to know the quirks and secrets of Gale, Astarion and other characters faster, instead of only uncovering them in the course of the game.
The replay value of the title is apparently particularly important to the developers, because with this reason Baldur’s Gate 3 also has 17,000 possible endings. Incidentally, other exciting numbers are also known for role-playing games.
