Baldur’s Gate 3 makes an announcement that may disappoint some players

Baldur’s Gate 3 has some bad news for Xbox players, and it concerns something that is highly anticipated. Incidentally, Larian Studios has another surprise in store for console owners.

Ahh, Baldur’s Gate 3. The GOTY (Game of the Year) 2023. The RPG that shocked newbies and regulars alike. It goes without saying that this is one of the most notable releases of recent years. At least, for the genre. Even today, a good number of players are embarking on this unforgettable adventure, and returning with stars in their eyes. And precisely, the studio behind this little marvel thanked the community in a very special way: with a physical edition. This is available for all platforms, but there is a catch for the Xbox version.

There is a problem with the Xbox physical edition of Baldur’s Gate 3

The physical Deluxe Edition was announced last November, and clearly, fans were excited. Its content is massive and above all magnificent (at least, at first glance). On the other hand, we were going to have to be a little patient, since we didn’t really have a specific date for his arrival. Since then, it has obviously become clearer, but there is a small problem with the Xbox version of this special edition. Indeed, from what we understand, it will be deployed after the others for a rather surprising reason.

It was Michael Douse, publishing director at Larian, who recently announced the color. Originally, the Deluxe Edition was to include 3 discs for the Xbox Series version, 2 for the PS5 and 1 for the PC. Well, plans have changed. The company had no choice, and from now on, 4 discs can be found in the Xbox box. A great first for the machine. “The Xbox version [édition deluxe] of Baldur’s Gate 3 will indeed have 4 disks, since we have exceeded the limit of 3 by 500mb »he explained.

On paper, it doesn’t seem that bad. But that’s where the problem lies, since it had consequences. Normally, orders for the Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition on Xbox were supposed to go out in March 2024. Now, Douse suggests you might have to wait until the first week of April before you can get your hands on it. Knowing that this should not impact the PS5 and PC versions. “It is likely that the Wave 1 date of March 25 will be postponed to the first week of April because of this.” The blow is hard, but patience will be short-lived.
