The Queen died at Balmoral Castle in 2022. Now rooms in the Scottish property can be viewed for the first time.

Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) spent the last weeks before her death at Balmoral Castle. She died on September 8, 2022 at her beloved estate in the Scottish Highlands. As royal expert Rebecca English reported in the Daily Mail at the time, the queen was “accompanied by a handful of loyal staff [worden]who had sworn to her that they would stay with her until the end”. The monarch is said to have enjoyed the nature there and received visits from family members and friends… A lot of time has passed since then and her firstborn Charles (75) is the new king of Great Britain – and he is now making a promise come true.

This summer, for the first time, visitors will be able to see parts of Balmoral Castle used by the royal family. As can be seen from the homepage“exclusive tours” will be offered from July 1 to August 4, before King Charles and Queen Camilla (76) arrive in Aberdeenshire for their summer break.

Ten people are granted access per tour. The tickets for the inside tour of the castle, which cost 100 pounds or 150 pounds (around 117 and 175 euros) including afternoon tea, are limited to 40 per day and are already sold out.

“A historical journey through some of the beautiful rooms of Balmoral Castle”

The Balmoral Castle website goes on to say that these tours are the first since the castle was completed in 1855. Anyone who gets hold of the coveted tickets can look forward to “a historical journey through some of the beautiful rooms of Balmoral Castle”.

“Travel through time from the purchase of Balmoral by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to the present day, where you can see how the rooms of the castle are used today by Their Majesties the King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family” , the announcement beckons.

The tour also includes access to the ballroom with an exhibition of Charles’ watercolor collection, depicting the landscapes of Balmoral, Highgrove and Sandringham, as well as a collection of clothing worn by Charles and Camilla, the late Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Mum.

Previous tours, which will continue to take place, focused on the park and gardens, while access to the castle was limited to the ballroom.
