Balterswil TG – Fire destroys house

A house in Itaslen near Balterswil, in which two people lived, was on fire on Wednesday morning for reasons as yet unknown. As the police wrote in a press release, the fire was discovered by the resident around 9:30 a.m. When the fire brigade arrived, the flames were already breaking out of the roof and the facade, the police continue to write. Both residents were able to leave the building unharmed. The 75-year-old resident was able to get himself to safety on his own. A passer-by came to the aid of the 69-year-old woman to leave the house through a window.

“I found out about the fire through a neighborhood chat,” says a news scout to 20 minutes. It is an older building with an attached barn. We are glad that, according to the current state of knowledge, no one was seriously injured.

The two residents went to a doctor independently after receiving first aid from the on-site rescue service. The property was completely destroyed by the fire and the damage amounts to several hundred thousand francs, as the canton police continue to write. The cause of the fire is still unclear. The fire investigation service of the Thurgau canton police started work to clarify the situation. During the operation, the road between Balterswil and Dussnang had to be closed for several hours, the fire brigade diverted the traffic.
