Balthazar: how is the absence of Hélène de Fougerolles explained in season 4?

Available on Salto in full before its broadcast on TF1, the unpublished season 4 of “Balthazar” is the first without Hélène de Fougerolles, who left the series. But how is the absence of her character, Hélène Bach, explained?

Already available in full on the Salto platform, before its arrival on TF1 from this Thursday, March 10 at 9:10 p.m., the new season 4 of Balthazar sees the medical examiner played by Tomer Sisley team up with a new investigator, captain Camille Costes. Who is interpreted by the actress Constance Labbé (Camping Paradis), who joins the series and succeeds Hélène de Fougerolles as the new female heroine of the story.

Indeed, remember, Hélène de Fougerolles had announced at the end of 2020, at the end of the broadcast of season 3 on TF1, that she was leaving Balthazar and that she would not be present in the credits of season 4.

Interviewed a few weeks later by Télé Loisirs, the actress recently seen in the sequel to Special Mention, confided that this departure was not entirely her doing and that the desire of the channel and the production was to renew the plot. and not get bored.

“A lot of people thought it was me who left but it wasn’t my decision. It’s a decision that was taken at many levels: the screenwriters, the producer, TF1… We all agreed concerted. The idea was for them to start writing again, because once the two main characters were together, it was less interesting. There was an idea of renewal, and as it is called Balthazar, if he there was one that needed to be renewed, it was more Tomer than me”.

While the final cliffhanger of season 3 saw Hélène Bach come to the aid of a bleeding Raphaël Balthazar and finally confess her love to him, fans of the hit detective series will therefore never have the opportunity to see this dog and cat duo get together and live a beautiful love story.

But how did the authors of Balthazar explain the absence of Hélène de Fougerolles in season 4? And what exit door did they imagine for the character of Hélène Bach?

The first episode of this fourth batch, which you can already find on Salto, tells us that when he woke up from the coma in which he was plunged, Balthazar violently pushed away Hélène, who had obviously remained at his bedside.

Unable to love, and extremely disturbed by the recent events involving Maya (Leslie Medina) and by the truth about the death of his wife, the coroner has therefore by his fault put an end to all hope of one day living something with Hélène. Injured, the female cop left to live in Polynesia where she decided to make a new start. Along with his children.

And if we can regret that this departure is somewhat hasty – the character necessarily deserved better after three seasons – the fans should not be disappointed by the arrival of Constance Labbé in the series, who sparks in the role of Camille Costes and forms a very different, and very funny, pair with Tomer Sisley.
