Bananas are among the most popular fruits among Germans. And rightly so: not only do they taste good and keep you full for a long time, they are also particularly healthy! In addition to potassium, which supports heart health, bananas also contain vitamin B6, which in turn boosts the immune system. But although bananas are so popular, many of us make several mistakes when dealing with the exotic fruits.

What we’re doing wrong with bananas

1. Incorrectly stored

If you keep your bananas in the fridge, get them out of there as soon as possible. Because bananas are real sun and heat worshipers, they can go bad prematurely in a cold fridge. They keep best if they are stored at room temperature – and as far away as possible from other fruit. Because ripe bananas give off a lot of ethylene – the ripening gas ensures that fruit spoils faster.

2. Incorrectly peeled

Are you also annoyed by the thin threads that get stuck when peeling a banana? Or have you ever accidentally crushed the flesh because the banana was still very fresh and the stalk was hard?
