Banco bilbao vizc. : 73.9% increase in adjusted EPS in the 1st quarter


(CercleFinance.com) – BBVA publishes recurring net income of 1.6 billion euros for the 1st quarter, up 36.4% compared to the same period a year earlier.

The EBIT of the 2nd Spanish bank rose by 23.7%, to 3.5 billion euros.
BBVA publishes adjusted EPS of 0.24 euro, up 73.9%.

Onur Genç, managing director of BBVA underlines the ‘significant improvement’ of profitability (RTE) with a return of 15.9%, and efficiency with 40.7% of costs in relation to income.

‘These two indicators put us ahead of our European competitors,’ he explains.

The manager is also delighted with the arrival of 2.4 million new customers this quarter.

“These results allow us to be optimistic for 2022 and strengthen our confidence in our ability to achieve the objectives we have set for 2024,” concludes the manager.
