Inaccessible in the European Union since March 3, the French subsidiary of the government channel Russia Today announces that it has lodged an appeal with the Court of Justice of the EU. RT France hopes for an urgent examination of its request in order to make a hypothetical return as soon as possible.

It was thought to be over since March 3, when the Russian government channel was made inaccessible in the European Union. However, the soap opera Russia Today continues, with an initiative by RT France. On Wednesday, the Court of Justice of the European Union announced that the French subsidiary of Russia Today had lodged an appeal before European justice. RT France is hoping to have its broadcast ban lifted and is asking for an urgent review of this case.

“A serious attack on freedom of expression”, according to RT France

If this request is deemed admissible, the Court of Justice of the European Union has specified that the procedure could last several weeks. On Wednesday, the president and director of information of RT France, Xenia Fedorava spoke again about the banning of her channel in a tweet: “We will fight until the end for what we consider to be an undeniable attack grave to freedom of expression,” she wrote.

Last week, the European Union decided to temporarily cut the signal from Sputnik and Russia Today, considering that these two Russian media, financed by the Kremlin, are instruments of disinformation. Most of their social media accounts have also been deactivated.
