Angela Merkel and Barack Obama visited a museum together in Washington. For him, the politician is like “a friend”.
Barack Obama (60) received former Chancellor Angela Merkel (67) on Wednesday at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, which he and his wife Michelle Obama (58) opened in 2016. On Instagram the ex-US President captures the moment with a special photo and warm words.
The picture shows Merkel and Obama from behind while standing in front of a light installation that casts a ring on the floor. “As President, I have seen Chancellor Merkel lead through crises with her shrewd pragmatism, good humor and unrelenting moral compass,” Obama wrote.
Obama is “grateful”
The US politician also raves about Merkel and explains that he considers himself lucky to be able to call her a “friend”. He was “grateful” for the opportunity to visit the museum with her. He always “remembers” the moment.
