The sequel to the blockbuster is taking shape

Will Margot Robbie return as Barbie? Allegedly, the same crew as in the first part should be hired for a sequel if possible.

After the success of “Barbie”, a sequel is only a matter of form. Those responsible should now have taken the first steps.

After the huge success of “Barbie”, a sequel is actually just a matter of form. After Greta Gerwig’s (40) film, the first work by a female director, grossed over a billion US dollars, the toy company Mattel will hardly miss the opportunity. According to the British newspaper “The Sun”, the first steps towards a sequel have now been taken.

“The crew who worked on the ‘Barbie’ film have been contacted to discuss working on the sequel,” a source told The Sun. The plans are said to be in an early stage. But those responsible want to work again with the team from the cinema hit, it is said. “Emails have already been sent out, but more details are yet to be finalized,” the anonymous insider told The Sun.

Greta Gerwig: “I want to go back to Barbie land”

Greta Gerwig is definitely ready for a sequel. Or for several. Her film will be “the introduction of a world and a series of different Barbie films,” the director said before the theatrical release of “Barbie” to “People”.

“There’s a certain tone, humor and happiness,” Gerwig continued. The world designed in the film is simply beautiful. “I want to go back to Barbieland”.

Leading actress and producer Margot Robbie (33) was a little more cautious. “It could go in a million different directions”, she told Time magazine – also before the theatrical release. “But I think you fall into a bit of a trap when you’re trying to do a first film and you’re planning sequels at the same time,” said the Barbie actress.
