The new year has barely started, and the product manager on the team in charge of Bard (Chris Gorgolewski) is already in the starting blocks. On the subreddit dedicated to Google’s AI assistant, he asked members of the community to share their expectations.

We’d love to know what Bard changes and new features you’d all like to see in 2024.

This publication is therefore an opportunity for the team to focus the development of the conversational agent towards new horizons. Chris Gorgolewski also responds to certain requests, announcing that he is taking note or asking for more details — particularly around the integration of Bard into several Google services; modifying the tone of the responses (like what Microsoft Copilot offers, for example) or even the structure of these responses. Some suggestions also mention document analysis, a dedicated Android and iOS application, Bard integration with the Google Assistant, persistent memory, etc.

9to5Googlehaving reported this news, points out in passing that Jack Krawczyk, employed at Google in the field of artificial intelligence, revealed via a Twitter/X post some of Bard’s most requested new features for 2024: greater multimodality, “you will love Gemini even more 📹🎥🎙️📸📻❤️”; simplified access, “you all want to use an app 🫡”; or even expanded capabilities, “you will love Bard Advanced 🚀”.

The American media reminds in passing that Google should offer its AI assistant in 2024 on Android and iOS via Assistant with Bard, announced during the officialization of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Available via the Google application, it would benefit from further integration on Android smartphones, with the possibility of “Launch it on top of any app/task by holding the power button or swiping around the corner of the screen“, explain 9to5Google.

Everything remains unknown regarding Assistant with Bard for iOS, which obviously cannot be integrated as thoroughly as on Android.

Other questions are also pending, such as the future of Google Assistant or Google’s ambitions around the AI virtual assistant currently being developed for the Pixel 9, aka Pixie.
