First, an unknown person stole a woman’s handbag in the Bregenz lakeside resort (Vorarlberg), then the man fled. He lost his shoes in the process. The police are hoping for information from the public.
On Monday, a 63-year-old woman was sitting on a park bench on the shore of Lake Constance in Bregenz, her handbag beside her. Suddenly, an unknown person grabbed the handbag and made off with it. Initially confronted by passers-by, the owner of the adjacent boat rental business and two passers-by gave chase. They caught up with the suspect and restrained him. The man lost his shoes and one of the passers-by was injured in the arm. Eventually the thief was able to free himself and fled again – this time without any shoes on his feet. A manhunt was unsuccessful; the police are now hoping for information from the public about the barefoot thief. The thief was around 30 years old, had his brunette hair tied back in a bun, was wearing blue trousers, a beige T-shirt and a green jacket, and is believed to be Eastern European.
