Albert Maier (73) said goodbye to moderator Horst Lichter (61) in tears. On Sunday (July 9th) the last episode of “Bares for Rares” ran with the art expert. The 73-year-old leaves the popular junk show for reasons of age.

Maier was part of the original cast and had been there since the start of “Bares for Rares” in 2013. These experts are currently working on the hit show.

Heide Rezepa-Zabel: The only remaining veteran

After Albert Maier’s Aus, Heide Rezepa-Zabel (57) is the only one from the team of experts who has been with us since episode one. The qualified art historian and trained diamond appraiser is primarily responsible for evaluating jewelry at “Bares für Rares”. In this function, the Westphalian also works away from the camera. In 2019 she was also active in the talk show “Maischberger” as an expert for evaluating the theft of jewels in the Dresden Green Vault.

Sven Deutschmanek to Wendela Horz: More experts for “Bares for Rares”

Sven Deutschmanek (47) replaced Oliver Kircher (52) in the second season, who turned his back on the show after just one season. Like its predecessor, it specializes more in newer objects, in design and toys. Unlike most of his colleagues at “Bares for Rares”, Sven Deutschmanek did not study art history. The trained car mechanic acquired his knowledge autodidactically by visiting a number of flea markets. He runs an antique shop in Schieder-Schwalenberg in the Lippe district.

Like Sven Deutschmanek, Detlev Kümmel (55) is an autodidact and specializes more in design and technology than in art. The trained tool mechanic joined “Bares for Rares” in 2016. Before that he was seen in various formats such as “Der Trödeltrupp”. The Lüdenscheider runs a gallery for modern art and antiques in his hometown. In his spare time he teaches various martial arts.

Colmar Schulte-Goltz (50) has also been with us since 2016. He comes from a family that has been collecting art for four generations. In this tradition, he studied art history, after which he was a lecturer at the University of Bochum for a while. Schulte-Goltz runs two galleries in Essen.

Wendela Horz (53) joined “Bares for Rares” in 2017. Like the veteran Heide Rezepa-Zabel, she is a jewelery expert and alternates with her in this function. Horz learned her trade as a gemologist in the German gem town of Idar-Oberstein. In 2020, the freelance expert presented her own jewelry collection on the shopping channel “QVC”.

The latest: Friederike Werner and Bianca Berding

Friederike Werner (*1962) and Bianca Berding (46) are the newest permanent members of the team of experts at “Bares for Rares”. Both started their service in 2019. Friederike Werner studied art history and Egyptology, with Horst Lichter specializing in paintings and sculptures. The art historian Berding worked behind the scenes as an editor for two years before she made the leap in front of the camera.

Patrick Lessmann also made his debut on June 12, 2023. The jewelry expert, who is supposed to relieve Heide Rezepa-Zabel and Wendela Horz, is not (yet) listed as an expert on ZDF’s official “Bares for Rares” page.
