The German-Turkish footballer Baris Basdas was seriously injured in the earthquake in Turkey. Jeremy Dudziak is safe.

Baris Basdas (33) was injured in the earthquakes in the border area between Turkey and Syria. As the “Bild” newspaper reports, citing the football professional’s advisor, the German-Turk jumped from the second floor to get to safety. He injured his foot badly.

The native of Cologne, who currently plays for the Turkish second division club Yeni Malatyaspor, is currently in the hospital. According to his advisor Serdar Topcu, he has not yet been treated. The hospitals were either overburdened or even destroyed by the earthquake.

Search for buried teammates stopped

A team-mate of Baris Basdas was no longer able to get to safety, it is said. Goalkeeper Ahmet Eyüp Türkaslan was buried under rubble from the training building. According to Serdar Topcu, the search for him has now been stopped.

Baris Basdas joined Yeni Malatyaspor in 2022. Previously, he played for the youth team of 1. FC Köln. In the 2020/21 season, the defender played 18 games in the second division for Hannover 96.

Jeremy Dudziak: More German football is safe

Jeremy Dudziak (27) is another German footballer in the earthquake area. Born in Hamburg, he is currently playing in Hatayspor on loan from SpVgg Greuther Fürth. According to consultant however, the Tunisian international is safe.

Dudziak is the son of a German mother and a father who was born in Ghana and grew up in Tunisia. He played for Borussia Dortmund, FC St. Pauli and Hamburger SV, among others.
