Base jumper jumps to his death in Lauterbrunnen

A 34-year-old French citizen had a fatal accident on Wednesday evening at the “High Ultimate” jump point in Lauterbrunnen in the canton of Bern.

ela. In Stechelberg in the municipality of Lauterbrunnen, a base jumper had a fatal accident on Wednesday evening. On site, the rescue workers could only determine the death of the 34-year-old. This is what the cantonal police in Bern writes in a statement.

According to current knowledge, the man and other people went to the “High Ultimate” jump point. For reasons that are still to be clarified, he collided with the rock face shortly after the jump before falling to the ground.

According to initial findings, the deceased is a 34-year-old French citizen. However, formal identification is still pending. The cantonal police in Bern have started investigations into the accident.
