Basel: Roger Federer confirms his comeback in the Swiss tournament


Roger Federer, who has not played in competition since Wimbledon 2021, confirmed on Tuesday his participation in the Basel tournament at the end of October.

At almost 41 years old, the Swiss champion will play the ATP 500 in his hometown in the fall (24-30 October). An event which is making a comeback in 2022 after having seen its last two editions canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and health restrictions.

“Roger Federer (…) will be the headliner” of the tournament organized in his hometown from October 24 to 30, organizers said. “After the Laver Cup in London (September 23-25), (he) added Basel to his diary and confirmed his participation in the management of the tournament.”

“Impatient to play again at home,” commented the Swiss with twenty Grand Slam trophies on social networks.
