BASF: expands its manufacturing capabilities in Antwerp


(CercleFinance.com) – BASF announces that it has expanded its manufacturing capacities for ethylene oxide and ethylene oxide derivatives at its Verbund site in Antwerp, Belgium. The investment adds approximately 400,000 metric tons per year to BASF’s production capacity for the corresponding products.

‘With these new plants, we support the continued growth of our customers and strengthen our position in the European market,’ says Hartwig Michels, President of Petrochemicals at BASF.

The investment, exceeding €500 million, includes a second ethylene oxide plant globally, including purified ethylene oxide capacity.

In addition to ethylene oxide, the investment includes additional capacity for alkoxylates, which are derivatives of ethylene oxide and used in a wide range of applications such as in the detergent and cleaning industry , automotive and construction.
