BASF: publishes a study on food packaging

(CercleFinance.com) – BASF announces the publication of a new Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study investigating the environmental impact of mozzarella packaging using various alternative raw materials in the production of food-grade plastics .

The study compares a flexible multilayer packaging with the same packaging based on fossil raw material.

“In particular, we looked at the use of different sustainable raw materials in the flexible multi-layer mozzarella packaging,” says Dr. Paul Neumann, New Business Development & Sustainability Polyamides Europe at BASF.

“The results demonstrate that it is possible to achieve significantly reduced environmental impacts, mainly resulting in reduced CO2 emissions, by using flexible multi-layer packaging containing a large proportion of chemically recycled or renewable raw materials,” he said. he adds.
