BASF: Towards a new standard in document transfer

(CercleFinance.com) – BASF Pharma Solution and Merck KGaA announce that they have developed a new standard called ‘StaQRD’ (Standard Quality and Regulatory Documentation) concerning the electronic transfer of regulatory and quality documentation, from suppliers to users of the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry.

‘Until now, the exchange of quality and regulatory information has required a manual process of transferring text and PDF files and copying and pasting information. Not only is this process time-consuming, but it is also error-prone,” says Dr. Dominik Odenbach, Global Director of Quality and Regulatory Compliance and External Affairs at BASF Pharma Solutions.

BASF explains that the StaQRD standard uses the widely adopted Extensible Markup Language (XML) to define required and optional information, and to ensure consistency, harmonize descriptions and reduce the risk of error.

Indeed, ‘our customers expect 24/7 access to accurate, real-time data and vital information to minimize vendor risk and accelerate time-to-market. market for new drug therapies,” said Marion Kuhn, vice president of business management at BASF Pharma Solutions.
