BASF: Two technologies enter Shell’s portfolio

(CercleFinance.com) – BASF announces that its PuristarR0-20 and Sorbead technologies have entered Shell’s portfolio for potential use in its global green hydrogen projects.

The Puristar R0-20 catalyst removes oxygen from the hydrogen stream while Sorbead adsorption technology dehydrates the hydrogen.

These two BASF technologies thus make it possible to purify the flow of hydrogen produced by the water electrolysis process. Once this process is completed, the hydrogen can be used as an energy source or as a chemical feedstock.

‘BASF shares Shell’s ambition to work towards net zero emissions in the future. Green hydrogen is a major element in achieving this objective and the employment of Puristar R0-20 and Sorbead technologies for Shell projects supports this project,” said Detlef Ruff, senior vice president Process Catalysts at BASF.
