BASF: working on facial recognition with STMicro

(CercleFinance.com) – STMicroelectronics and trinamiX, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF and a pioneer in new biometric technologies, announce that they are working together to develop a facial authentication application solution.

The solution is designed to operate invisibly under an OLE screen to ensure the level of security required by mobile payment applications. It will be presented for the first time live at the IFA 2022 show, which will take place in Berlin from September 2 to 6.

The system is presented by STMicro as ‘a reliable and fast contactless face authentication method that can be integrated into smartphones and other products requiring user authentication’.

In addition to identity verification, the solution can also differentiate human skin from other materials to recognize and reject deceptive attempts using photo prints or hyper-realistic color and relief masks.
