In basketball, the French lost to the Spaniards, 76 to 88. After a victory in 2009, 2011 and 20215, Spain won its fourth European championship, thanks to a largely renewed team.

Spanish basketball players won their fourth European championship title after 2009, 2011 and 2015 by beating France 88-76 in the final in Berlin on Sunday. Spain relied on the brothers Juancho and Willy Hernangomez (27 and 14 points) to win with a largely renewed team compared to the one that had been crowned world champion in 2019.

“So close to the goal, it’s hard to pass it up, they made a very good start, we played behind the whole game. Players like Juancho (Hernangomez) came in and had a big impact on the game. We had good streaks but it was not enough. We had to go get it. I have to be better in those moments,” admitted one of the pivots of the France team, Rudy Gobert.
