Basque country / Landes: the A63 motorway cut off towards Spain after an accident, traffic still disrupted this evening

The accident caused the temporary closure of the highway on this portion. At 1 p.m. this Friday, after more than 23 kilometers of cumulative traffic jams, between Saint-Pierre-d’Irube and Urrugne, on the motorway axis, traffic is slowly picking up. A two-way traffic zone has been put in place to facilitate the resumption of traffic. The police, helped by teams from Vinci, are gradually evacuating the vehicles stuck in the traffic jam.

But traffic remains difficult: it still takes more than 1 hour 20 minutes to cross the disturbance between Bayonne North and Saint-Jean-de-Luz South.

The carcass of the truck is still across the track. Debris removal is still ongoing. In addition, the roadway, damaged by the flames, will also have to be repaired. The afternoon will be devoted to it.
