Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean Remake reportedly in development and exclusive to Switch

The era of the Nintendo Gamecube allowed us to experiment with a number of very striking JRPGs, including a certain Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean. At a time when remakes and remasters of great games of the past are more and more present, we are entitled to hope for the return of this one. In effect, according to the sources of the Exputer site, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean Remake would finally be in the boxes.

With Monolith Soft, Nintendo and Bandai Namco at the helm

True cult JRPG from the Gamecube, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Ocean lost marked the minds of many players in the same way as Tales of Symphonia or Skys of Arcadia (which we also hope will one day be released via a remaster or a remake). Many are waiting to be able to replay it properly via ports on current consoles.

According to the sources of the Exputer site, we could have much better than that with a remake exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. The journalists would thus have observed graphic elements of the title still in development, but without being able to publish them for the moment. It would apparently slated for release this summer with an announcement around the E3/Summer Game Fest period.

The most interesting information is that the development would have been entrusted to the Monolith Soft studio (who released Xenoblade Chronicles 3 lately), which was already behind the Gamecube title, with the support of Bandai Namco. Since Monolith Soft is now owned by Nintendo, the Japanese manufacturer would actively oversee the development.

The site has already leaked some information about various games and it’s not really known for crying wolf. We can then legitimately believe in this rumor while waiting to have more concrete information. We also recall that Bandai Namco had redeposited the domain name of this Baten Kaitos in June 2021. This could therefore indicate that the project has been underway for around two years. The site also assumes that the prequel, Baten Kaitos Originsbut unlike the first, nothing is certain.

However, the site is unable to say whether the remake will be as deep as a Final Fantasy VII Remake or a little lighter (between the remaster and the remake) like NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… We know that the news would make people happy and could reach a new audience. This could even pave the way for a Baten Kaitos 3 as the producer of the first opus, Yasuyuki Honne, had already mentioned.
