Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster: the compilation confirmed for this summer

The rumors were right, Baten Kaitos I & II will be back this summer on Nintendo Switch. Finally, these cult JRPGs from the Gamecube can finally be playable on a modern sipport.

A remaster lighter than expected?

After so many years of waiting in vain, Bandai Namco finally announces the good news tonight during this Nintendo Direct. We will therefore find the two games, namely Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings And the Lost Ocean and Baten Kaitos Origins with graphical improvements as well as some features that improve the comfort of play. Note however that only the first will offer texts in French as at the time while the second will only have texts in English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Regarding the voices, only the Japanese dubbing will be offered.

In order to make it more digestible for new players, the games will have a revamped interface and new models for the main characters as well as items on the battlefield. We are also promised a more stable framerate, a mode that prevents random encounters, an auto-combat mode, the possibility of skipping cut-scenes and an auto-save.

The official site tells us that there will be no additional content, but other questions remain. We are waiting for confirmation on whether these remasters will be exclusive to the Switch and whether or not they will have a physical version. There’s also no indication of who’s in charge of this redesign work or even if Monolith Soft (the studio behind the games now owned by Nintendo) played a role here.

Baten Kaitos I & II should in any case arrive this summer on Nintendo Switch.
