Batman: the three figures of the success of the film in theaters

Since its release, “The Batman” has proven to be a smash hit. The new opus of the adventures of the masked vigilante is also the best launch of the year in France and the United States. The proof in numbers.

250 million worldwide, 128.5 million in America

In the space of just three days, between Friday and Sunday, “The Batman” generated $250 million in revenue worldwide, and $128.5 million in the United States, reports the daily Les Echos. If the film has thus signed the best start of the year 2022, the bat does not however reach the ankle of Spider-Man. Indeed, “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, released last December, had generated 420 million in revenue worldwide for its launch.

More than a million admissions since Wednesday in France

It is not only across the Atlantic that the film is a resounding success. In France, since its release last Wednesday, the film has generated more than a million admissions. This is the strongest launch in 2022, even if Spider-Man had done better there still (around 2 million for its debut in December). The new part of the adventures of Batman thus beats several films which were particularly awaited such as “Uncharted” (280,000 admissions since Wednesday, 1.8 million since its debut).

More than a third of cinema admissions in France since Wednesday

In general, “The Batman” has contributed more than 35% of cinema attendance since last Wednesday in France. In total, the number of cinema admissions stands at around 2.7 million, a figure above 2020 over the equivalent week (the cinemas being closed at this time in 2021 due to the pandemic).

Above all, for the first time since the beginning of January, attendance is above its minimum over the period 2015-2019, before the health crisis therefore. A beacon of hope for post-pandemic culture.
