Whoever won the title in the RTLzwei show "Kampf der Realitystars" is relatively unspectacular – the last episode, however, wasn't.
Holy sandy beach, the time has come: after a total of eight episodes of the new TV format "Kampf der Realitystars", RTLzwei decided on Wednesday who will be "Reality Star of the Year 2020". So much can be revealed at this point: It was not one of the most exciting or likeable contenders. But that's in the nature of things.
Before the grand finale, there is an hour of truth and two safety games, each of which gives a candidate the chance to secure himself from being kicked out. The first game starts almost too well to be true: The assigned teams of two consist of dream constellations like Georgina (30) and her "best buddy" Sam (28) or Willi (45) and his good friend Kate ( 33). Before the joy of the buddy duos can get too great, the two-man teams on the field are told that they are actually playing against each other. Haha, fell for it!
In the tic-tac-toe game you have to answer questions for which, how could it be otherwise, you need detailed knowledge of German trash culture. Willi completely overlooks the fact that Kate is already full in her row. "He just blacked out," said Kate. The winners – Kate, Sam, Kevin – then compete against each other in a quick quiz. And whoosh is "Prince Charming" -Sam in the final.
Georgina is seized by jealousy
Before life gets down to business the next day, it gets fun again: Willi is arranging one last big party, this time with disguise and guaranteed fun. Melissa (24) puts on a show with Wolfgang Petry that would make the original proud. Willi gives the muscular stripper cop in silver leggings, Georgina a successful performance as Amy Winehouse, Kevin raps in a glittery dress ("I looked sensational") – and Sam hoists the rainbow flag with Georgina and Kate. For a successful conclusion, everyone jump into the pool in full gear.
But as at every good party, jealousy flashes through all the lightness: Kate and Sam suddenly develop a friendship. There was Sam, purely platonic, but Georgina promised! But now he cuddles with Kate in the pool and even fantasizes about a surrogate motherhood. "That was the highlight of the whole season what we were doing!" so Kate, when she can finally break away from him. Gigi, on the other hand, is not very enthusiastic: "Yes, it was great." In the camera room she can be more honest: "Sam was meant for me, he's my best friend, I don't want to share him, no, that doesn't work."
Willi is back on the line
But don't worry, it'll all be over soon anyway. The last safety game and at the same time the last hangover game is actually quite fun to watch this time: The candidates have to solve an oversized thinking / handicraft task that is made more difficult by external circumstances – such as a very slippery surface. While Kate's upper room only really revs up after a fall on the back of her head, nothing happens to Willi for a long time. For 21 minutes he stands on the track, thinking back and forth, desperately clutching his head and screaming: "That won't work, maaan!" 21 minutes! Kevin, on the other hand, only needed two minutes and fourteen seconds – and is just as safe as Sam.
Summary: Sam and Kevin are safe, two of the remaining four have to go, everyone votes on it together. Now old rivalries are taking revenge! Willi nominates Georgina, she nominates back, the rest of the decision making strategic decisions – and ultimately both have to go. A shame, if we're honest, those two were the stars among the reality stars. So your farewell is ready for a film or at least for TV. Ms. Fleur: "He nominated me, I nominated him back, now he's going with me." Gentlemen: "I feel great, really, I feel really good." Inappropriate resentment and exaggerated optimism, that's how we love them both.
The last day: "I feel so weird right now"
The next – last – day in the sala begins for most with melancholy, for Sam with a glass of Prosecco. Go to the sea one last time, enjoy the view one last time, listen to some wisdom from Kate one last time: "It's all kind of strange, I feel completely strange, you don't, very strange, right?" The last drone finally explains how the "Reality Star of the Year" is actually chosen among the last four: with a game. This consists of three parts: looking for a VIP ribbon with your mouth in a three-tier cake, intelligence on uh, questions of knowledge, proving and shooting rubber ducks with the corks of champagne bottles.
None of the candidates really shine during the Reality Star Olympics. Kate despaired of the logic questions, Melissa of the champagne cork. Kevin gives everything on the hunt through the cream cake with his face as the only weapon, but that doesn't mean more than looking funny. And Sam disappoints himself in most of the cork popping. A georgina would have arranged it differently! But that's how it works when a game is based on the fact that the "biggest competitors" are always thrown out – in the end, the best are not necessarily left over.
Wisdom for life
Who has actually won will be announced by Cathy "Klum" Hummels in the evening at the less spectacular final: Fourth place goes to Sympathie-Melissa. Bronze in the Reality Olympiad achieved Kate, who is almost bursting with pride: "Me as a woman in third place, hey hello, that's totally awesome!" We should also urgently talk about her self-image as a woman. There are still Sam and Kevin – who even hold hands in the end because of the tension.
The golden reality TV trophy in the form of a television set from the eighties and the 50,000 euros in prize money ultimately go to Kevin. "I was expecting a lot but not that I would come here and wipe everyone out," said his semi-sympathetic acceptance speech. Even if you allow the failed ex-footballer a kind of victory (cough), this outcome is somehow unsatisfactory. Especially because Kev was only there for three episodes and his best sentence was, "No, I can't." But well, even if it wasn't exactly exciting, the viewer can at least take a reality TV piece of wisdom from Kevin: "I just rocked this thing, I just did it, just did it."
