After a slightly more timid season 2 than the first, Battlefield 2042 continues its improvements and its “redemption” with a part of the players by bringing major updates to the FPS of DICE and Electronic Arts. Here’s everything you need to know about Season 3: Crescendo.
Zain the new specialist and a return to basics for the classes
We start by adding a new character to the futuristic military cast with Egyptian Rasheed Zain, a security expert who has an XM370A air-burst semi-automatic rifle. Concretely, the latter will be particularly useful for dislodging enemies in cover. This is a fairly aggressive character who has characteristics that reward risk-taking sincehe can benefit from faster health regeneration when eliminating an enemy.
Historical players were waiting for it, Battlefield 2042 reverts to a more classic class system. DICE specifies however that it will benefit from several adjustments and balancing over time but the base is there. Each class will receive equipment and a gadget from
elective class. This will allow classes to benefit from very specific weapons. For example scouts will be more accurate with snipers by holding their breath during a long range shot.
New weapons and a new vehicle
With this season 3, Battlefield 2042 exploits its futuristic dimension much more with new weapons that are a little more technologically advanced, but we also note the introduction of a throwing knife which could prove to be very practical. We had the opportunity to try them in game during a press session and we must admit that the shotgun is particularly powerful. Here is the list of new weapons (and the new gadget) of this season 3:
- Rorsch Mk 4 : This is an electric cannon that can fire projectiles at very high speeds. However, there is a small loading time to trigger a shot.
- NVK S22 : a smart, semi-automatic and compact shotgun. It is very powerful even at medium distance.
- Bullpup NVK P125 : a handgun that has a long barrel in order to attack at long distance.
- The throwing knife : A deadly tool that can eliminate an enemy with one blow and discreetly.
Crescendo’s new vehicle also gives pride of place to futurism with the EMKV90 TOR tank. It has two modes knowing that you can switch from one to the other at any time even if there is a small delay during the change. The mobility mode lets you race across the battlefield at full speed while firing a turret. As to seat mode, it immobilizes the device in order to increase the satiability of the shots in addition to granting the tank increased firepower. He can also detect the source of enemy attacks when in range.
The new card: Spearhead
DICE being a Swedish studio, this new card located in their native country has special meaning for the studio. During our games on it, we were surprised by the simplicity that always brings us into the heat of the moment. If you find that the game makes you run too much depending on the maps, this one should satisfy your cravings for instant action. Spearhead therefore highlights close combat. It includes two semi-automated Nordvik factories, where high-tech weapons are manufactured. These facilities are surrounded by rock formations that provide shelter as well as rugged terrain.
We thus have a fairly versatile map that even allows the use of vehicles (especially land) but which leaves little room for camping thanks to a very open terrain and a virtual absence of verticality. Let us also specify that during the season, we will be entitled to the revamps of the Manifesto and Rupture cards.
Battlefield 2042 temporarily free and coming soon to Xbox Game Pass and EA Play
On the occasion of this season 3, Battlefield 2042 intends to do everything to attract people. The game will be free on all platforms for a limited period. :
- Xbox: From December 1 at Xbox at 9:01 a.m. to December 5 at 8:59 a.m.
- Steam: December 1 at 7:00 p.m. to December 5 at 7:00 p.m.
- PlayStation: December 16 at 5:00 p.m. to December 23 at 5:00 p.m.
The FPS will also be added to the EA Play catalog, making it available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
