Batwoman: Kate Kane appears to be followed by Ryan Wilder

After the surprising departure of Ruby Rose (34) as the heroine of the "Batwoman" series, the casting of a successor is in full swing. The question of who will take on her role as Kate Kane does not appear to arise. Because, as the US side "Decider" reports, they decided instead to introduce a completely new figure. This can be read from a casting note leaked at "Reddit", which has since been deleted.

However, the industry website "The Hollywood Reporter" claims to have found out that this is correct information. The new main character is said to be named Ryan Wilder and is very different in character from Rose's character Kate Kane. "She is adorable, messy, a bit silly and uninhibited. She also has nothing in common with Kate Kane, who wore the batsuit in front of her," quotes the site.

From criminal to heroine?

As a former drug courier, Wilder himself had had plenty of trouble with the law and was therefore "anything but the typical, American heroine". But she has one important thing in common with her predecessor: Ryan Wilder is also said to be an openly lesbian figure, who – as in the person of Ruby Rose – is also embodied by a lesbian actress.

A second season of "Batwoman" is planned for 2021. The production company expects to be able to take on the leading role "in the coming months", according to an article by "CNN".
