Bavarian Beau – This new BMW brings a touch of Ferrari FF!

BMW has polarized people more and more with design lately – but now the Munich-based company has put a vehicle on wheels that fascinates across the board. The BMW Concept Touring Coupé is a Shooting Brake based on the Z4 Roadster – which even reminds many of the Ferrari FF.

This association cannot be denied when viewed from the side, although the Italian car is drawn much more elongated. In contrast to the Ferrari, however, the BMW was (officially at least) only created as a one-off. “With the BMW Concept Touring Coupé, we are celebrating the original driving pleasure,” says Domagoj Dukec, Head of BMW Design. “A highly emotional vehicle like this shows us that the passion for pure driving pleasure is also essential for the future.” In the rain of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023, the car not only attracted drops of water, but above all, looks. BMW wants to commemorate the BMW 328 Touring Coupé, which won the Mille Miglia endurance race in 1940, but in fact one thinks more of the BMW Z3, which was also offered as a Coupé at the time – which in turn fuels hopes of a production model. As a BMW fan, one is grateful these days if the kidneys are of a manageable size. And if the lines and proportions fit so well, then, yes, then… The bonnet is long, the short rear extremely powerful, almost massively designed, almost as if it could hardly walk because of its strength. The narrow tailgate fits in almost modestly between the wide C-pillars. Behind it there is just enough storage space for two travelers to spend a fine weekend without having to do without shopping completely. Large exhaust openings and 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear emphasize the sporty appearance. Officially, BMW has the closed Z4 as the Z3 Coupé presented at the IAA in 2005 declared as a concept car. Back then, shortly after the show car was unveiled, it was already clear that a corresponding production model would follow.
