Bayer: An optimistic tone on the occasion of the GA

(CercleFinance.com) – The pharmaceutical and agrochemical company Bayer declared itself on Friday “on the right track” during its annual general meeting, organized in its stronghold of Leverkusen.

Its managing director Werner Baumann estimated that the group had succeeded in its 2021 financial year, both from an operational and strategic point of view, by managing to exceed its forecasts when the financial year was supposed to be a “transition year”.

Looking to 2022, Bayer sounded optimistic, saying it expects business growth to continue, despite the uncertainty posed by the conflict in Ukraine.

The company thus claims to have signed a “particularly successful” start to the year 2022. Its first quarter results will be released on Tuesday, May 10.

Friday’s AGM was an opportunity for shareholders to ratify the payment of an annual dividend of two euros per share.

After a gain of more than 1.5% on Friday, Bayer shares started to fall again on Monday morning, dropping nearly 3.8%.

Since the start of the year, the stock has nevertheless posted a jump of more than 28%, which makes it by far the best performance of the DAX index and the Euro STOXX 50 this year.
