(sda) Bayern Munich met little resistance in the 4-1 away win against Hertha Berlin. The result could have been higher in the end. With the victory, the Bundesliga champions defended their lead of six points over pursuers Borussia Dortmund.

Corentin Tolisso, Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry scored the goals for Bayern, who led 2-0 at the break and were 4-0 ahead after 79 minutes. The German news agency dpa described in its report how much the record champion team from the weight class of Hertha Berlin is removed as follows: “Bayern’s internationals must have felt like they were in an international match against Liechtenstein.” Munich’s dominance in the Bundesliga is also documented by this sequence of numbers: 5:0, 4:0, 4:0, 4:1. These are four of Bayern’s last five results.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg is slipping further towards the relegation zone with the Swiss Kevin Mbabu and Renato Steffen. After the 0: 2 in Leipzig, where Mbabu (substitute) and Steffen (suspended) were not used, “VfL” is still two points above Barrage-Platz 16.

Wolfsburg, who started the season with four wins in a row in late summer, have only scored two points from their last nine Bundesliga games. The interim balance of coach Florian Kohfeldt is also more than meager. The 39-year-old, who was relegated with Werder Bremen last year, has picked up just eight points in 11 games since taking charge.

(sda) Real Madrid averted a defeat in extremis in the home game against Elche. Thanks to goals from Luka Modric and Eder Militão in the last eight minutes, the leaders managed to make it 2-2. The Croatian was successful with a penalty, the central defender from Brazil with a header in injury time.

Despite the late catch-up, Real have to think about the last few laps. In the last five games, Carlo Ancelotti’s team has lost seven points against Cadiz (0-0), Getafe (0-1) and Elche. These are all teams that are or were classified in the lower quarter of the table.

It is Real’s luck that pursuers FC Sevilla have only drawn twice recently and are still four points behind.

(sda) The Swiss Ryan Regez doubled in the Skicross World Cup race in Idre Fjäll, Sweden and, after his victory on Saturday, also won on Sunday.

After a spectacular race to catch up on the home stretch, Regez prevailed in the final in the photo finish against Sweden’s David Mobärg and clinched his sixth World Cup victory. The Bernese Oberlander underpinned his top form with his two victories in central Sweden two weeks before the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Romain Détraz also showed a good performance, moving up two places from 7th place the day before and winning the small final. For Marc Bischofberger, the 2018 Olympic silver medalist, it was another disappointment with his elimination in the round of 16.

In the women’s race, the Swede Sandra Näslund also doubled in a race overshadowed by various falls and celebrated her ninth victory in the tenth race of the season. Sanna Lüdi and Saskja Lack were also among the victims of the fall.

Lüdi gave up victory in the small final and thus 5th place when she took off after a wave and fell while she was in the lead on the home stretch. The injured Fanny Smith missed the Olympic dress rehearsal due to a knee injury.

Tennis: Novak Djokovic wants to play in Australia again in 2023

(sda) A week after his expulsion, Novak Djokovic apparently hopes to play again at the Australian Open next year. At least that’s what Craig Tiley, the tournament director of the Melbourne Grand Slam tournament, said.

The cancellation of Djokovic’s visa actually entails a three-year entry ban. However, this can be canceled at any time. Daniel Andrews, Prime Minister of the State of Victoria, emphasized that Novak Djokovic is very welcome in Australia – if he gets vaccinated beforehand.

Djokovic has not commented publicly on his mess in Australia since returning to Serbia. Last week, the French tennis association announced that only vaccinated tennis professionals could be admitted to the French Open in Roland-Garros at the end of May.

Ski Freestyle: Andri Ragettli only placed seventh

The Big Air competition at the X Games in Aspen was disappointing for Swiss freeskier Andri Ragettli. The man from Graubünden, who was only reasonably successful in one of six jumps, took 7th place among the eight participants.

For Ragettli, after winning the comeback last week in the French Pyrenees, it was only the second competition after tearing his cruciate ligament in his knee in Aspen in March.

The high-class competition was won by the American Alex Hall, who grew up in Switzerland.

(sda) In the night to Sunday, the Swiss NHL players hardly appear. Kevin Fiala saved Minnesota to equalize 3-3 into overtime against Chicago, Nico Hischier added an assist in New Jersey’s 7-4 win over Carolina.

Fiala equalized for the Wild against the Blackhawks (with Philipp Kuraschew) with 124 seconds remaining in the third period with his tenth goal of the season when he converted a rebound to make it 3-3. By then, the home team had already replaced the goalkeeper with a sixth field player. Minnesota then prevailed in overtime thanks to a goal from Marcus Foligno.

Nico Hischier won the clash against Nino Niederreiter in the game between the New Jersey Devils and the Carolina Hurricanes and had an assist credited in the 53rd minute in the pre-decisive 6:4 outnumbered. It was the Valais’ 16th assist of the season. In another Swiss duel, Roman Josi and the Nashville Predators defeated Pius Suter and the Detroit Red Wings 4-1.

For Timo Meier and the San Jose Sharks (1:7 against Tampa Bay) and Janis Moser and the Arizona Coyotes (3:7 at the New York Rangers) it was clear defeats.

(sda) Swiss freestyle skier Mathilde Gremaud takes another medal at the X-Games in Aspen. The 21-year-old finished second in slopestyle behind Tess Ledeux from France. It was her fourth podium at the annual event in the Rocky Mountains.

On Friday, Gremaud decided against further attempts in the Big Air, which she has already won twice in Aspen, after two unsuccessful jumps. The best Swiss in that competition was Giulia Tanno in fifth place.
