FC Bayern Munich’s star striker Harry Kane faces injury concerns after being substituted during the Champions League match against Celtic Glasgow due to calf and ankle issues. With his impressive 39 goal contributions in 31 matches, his absence would be a significant challenge for the team. Coach Vincent Kompany is uncertain about Kane’s availability for the crucial match against Eintracht Frankfurt and may need to rely on alternatives, though none are traditional center-forwards.
Harry Kane’s Injury Concerns for FC Bayern
FC Bayern Munich is facing a potential setback as star striker Harry Kane was substituted at halftime during the Champions League clash against Celtic Glasgow. The 31-year-old forward reported experiencing calf issues, raising concerns about his availability for the crucial match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
After the 1:1 draw, which secured Bayern’s advancement to the knockout stage, sports director Max Eberl mentioned that Kane is dealing with ankle problems as well. “Fingers crossed for Kane,” Eberl stated, noting that the Englishman struggled to sprint effectively during the first half but nearly scored when he hit the crossbar. Eberl expressed hope for Kane’s quick recovery, saying, “Hopefully, he will be fit by Sunday.”
Who Can Step Up in Kane’s Absence?
Before his substitution, Kane had made significant contributions to the team, and his absence would be a considerable challenge for Bayern, given his impressive 39 goal contributions in just 31 matches. Currently, there is no adequate backup for Kane, especially after the departure of young talent Mathys Tel to Tottenham Hotspur.
In the past, Bayern’s management quickly addressed striker injuries; however, this season, they did not acquire a replacement for Kane during the winter transfer window. Options like Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry, and Jamal Musiala could fill the gap, but none are traditional center-forwards, which poses a risk to the team’s attacking strategy.
Coach Vincent Kompany remains uncertain about Kane’s status for the upcoming match against Frankfurt. “We will see,” he commented after the match against Glasgow. Kompany will have to make strategic decisions as they await updates on Kane’s condition.
