No doubt that Platinum Games and nintendo would have done without a call for a boycott of Bayonetta 3 a few days before its release. It all started when Hellena Taylor, the historical voice of Bayonetta in English, explained the reasons why she did not reprise her role in this third episode. Much of the problem stems from the fact that the salary proposal for her work on this sequel would have been considered indecent by the person concerned, with only $4,000 offered to double the entire game. Jennifer Halethe new voice of Bayonetta, speaks on this case.

Jennifer Hale is no newcomer to the world of dubbing, let alone video game dubbing. If you play in English at Mass Effectyou certainly know her voice since she is the one who embodies Shepard in the trilogy.
In a statement, she is speaking today on the matter which affects Bayonetta 3 :
“ As a long-time member of the acting community, I support every actor’s right to be well paid and have consistently advocated for it for years. Anyone who knows me or has followed my career will know that I have great respect for my peers and am an advocate for all members of the community. I am under NDA and am not free to talk about this situation. My reputation speaks for itself. I sincerely ask everyone to keep in mind that this game was created by a whole team of dedicated and hardworking people and I hope everyone will keep an open mind about what has been created. Finally, I hope everyone involved can resolve their differences in a friendly and respectful manner. »
It is therefore a call for appeasement that Hale launches here, placing himself somewhere between the two camps. She can’t take a stand or say more anyway with the non-disclosure agreement she had to sign.
A proposal at the bare minimum?
The Axios site also allows us to learn a little more about the conditions for dubbing games. Bayonettaholding that older games required 3-4 dubbing sessions, with a minimum of $1,000 per session thanks to the support of the SAG/AFTRA union (which would therefore be a good 4,000 dollars minimum). However, more experienced actors and actresses may qualify for much higher sums.
In view of Jennifer Hale’s CV, it is therefore difficult to believe that the latter accepted a proposal at the bare minimum, and we imagine that his salary must be more important than the 4,000 dollars offered to Hellena Taylor.
In any case, the dubbing situation across the Atlantic should not improve since the agreement put in place for the minimum wage will expire on November 7. Let’s hope for all the people belonging to this environment that the next deal will be revised upwards, especially with all the controversies that have erupted lately.
