The man, hit by several projectiles, was already in cardio-respiratory arrest when help arrived. A man in his twenties was killed by gunfire on Saturday in a working-class neighborhood in the north of Bayonne (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) and the suspected shooter is still being sought, we learned from the prosecution.
The victim, hit by several bullets, was in cardio-respiratory arrest when emergency services arrived on the scene, in the Sainte-Croix district. He died on the spot, despite resuscitation attempts, the same source told AFP.
The perpetrator of the shooting, who was not arrested at this stage, had “deliberately targeted” the victim, according to the Bayonne prosecutor’s office which opened an investigation for assassination, entrusted to the Bayonne judicial police.
