Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis trailer is out! Swing with the King!

After the recent Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman respectively dedicated to singers Freddy Mercury and Elton John, Baz Luhrmann directs Elvis, a film dedicated to the King! Check out the event trailer.

9 years after adapting F. Scott Fitzgerald’s magnificent Gatsby on the big screen, Baz Luhrmann returns with a biopic dedicated to Elvis Presley.

The event feature film tells the life and musical work of the King through the prism of his complex relationship with his mysterious manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The film explores their relationship over two decades, from the singer’s rise to unparalleled stardom, against a backdrop of cultural upheaval and America’s discovery of the end of innocence.

It is the young Austin Butler, 30, who embodies the singer with the famous swaying hips. His resemblance to the king of rock is quite disturbing.

Who is the interpreter of Elvis?

The latter began in music and modeling when he was only 13 years old. He started in front of television cameras for series aimed at teenagers: Ned: how to survive studies?, Hannah Montana, Zoey 101, or even iCarly.

In 2014 he was chosen to play Carrie Bradshaw’s first love in The Carrie Diaries, the prequel to Sex and the City. The actor then joined the league of assassins in the Arrow series where he played Chase and continued with a leading role in the television adaptation of Terry Brooks’ heroic fantasy bestsellers, The Shannara Chronicles.

Austin Butler

In 2019 he landed a small role in Quentin Tarantino’s film Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and continued with the filming of Elvis. A role that suits him perfectly when you see the first images.

The young man here faces an unrecognizable Tom Hanks as manager Tom Parker. He also gives the reply to Olivia DeJonge, who plays Priscilla Presley, Helen Thomson, Luke Bracey, Richard Roxburgh or David Wenham

Elvis will be visible in our dark rooms from June 22, and why not a preview presentation at Cannes?
