The surcharge on second homes and the increase in their housing tax will not be long in coming. A measure feared by the French which will soon make its arrival in the Official Journal. More than 3,600 municipalities are affected by this option.
At the beginning of February, the deputy Xavier Roseran announced the postponement of the increase in the housing tax for second homes. A text which will soon give the possibility to nearly 3,680 additional municipalities in France to vote whether or not they wish to apply an increase in the housing tax for second homes. Namely that in some cases this increase can reach 60% increase. At present, only a thousand municipalities were affected by this possible increase, cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants.
