Notice to young parents who received a baby box at the maternity ward: do not use the sleeping bag it contains. In fact, two hospitals have indicated that this product is defective.
Since 2022, the plan for the first 1000 days has implemented the baby box. This is a “bag of the first 1000 days”, intended for young parents and distributed to the maternity ward. This contains products considered essential for the first days of the infant, mainly in terms of hygiene. Thus, young parents can find the following items: a sleeping bag, soap, moisturizing cream, a bib, a youth album, and a welcome to parenthood booklet.
An initiative greatly appreciated by parents who are experiencing this experience for the first time, and need some guidance for their first days with baby. That said, several alerts have been given by hospitals about this baby box.

Baby box: two hospitals raised the alarm about the sleeping bag found in the bags
Indeed, the maternity hospital of Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle) had launched an alert on a defective product a few weeks ago, and, this April 22, it was the turn of the Narbonne Hospital Center (Aude) to warn patients about this baby box.
The same item contained in the first 1000 days bag attracted the attention of these two hospitals: the sleeping bag. In fact, the maternity ward Nancy explained that she had been warned by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) that some of these white sleeping bags have a defect with the snap button. “A risk of detachment” was raised. As a result, this could cause the infant to choke if he or she manages to grab the button and put it in his or her mouth.

The bags from the first 1000 days concerned are those distributed until October 2023. Parents who have received them must therefore be careful. And if a white sleeping bag is in the baby box that it was given to you, then you should no longer use it. The Narbonne maternity hospital has in fact asked its patients “no longer use this product, destroy it”.
If this famous sleeping bag has already been given or sold by the young parents who received it, the maternity hospital asked them to notify the people who now have the defective product in their possession, “as a precaution”. The hospital wanted to apologize to the parents, and is now available “for any questions on these subjects” via the email address [email protected]. You therefore have all the information in your possession in order to react as best as possible if you are concerned by the alert linked to this baby box and above all, to the defective white sleeping bag it contains. Do not take any risks and hurry to part with this product if you still have it. Or, if you have given or sold it to a third party, to warn that person of the dangers it entails.
