Be careful, your Fitbit watch will be more limited in a few months

Fitbit has announced that from March 31, it will no longer be possible to use the Deezer and Pandora applications on its connected watches, even those that previously allowed it.

With its latest connected watches, the Versa 4 and Sense 2, Fitbit had already overlooked certain functions that were present on previous models. It is therefore impossible to use watches to control music playback. It is also impossible to install third-party applications from music streaming platforms.

Now, to clear things up, Fitbit has announced an update to its Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 2, and Fitbit Versa 3, as 9to5Google reports. In detail, the firm owned since 2021 by Google indicates in an email that from March 31, it will no longer be possible to use the Pandora and Deezer applications on these three connected watches. ” You will no longer be able to download Pandora stations or add Deezer playlists to your device, or play a song you previously downloaded“, indicates the email sent by Fitbit.

If Pandora is not available in France, but only in the United States, Deezer is a French streaming platform particularly used in France, since it is placed just behind Spotify in terms of users, ahead of Amazon Music, YouTube Music and Apple Music.

Only Spotify remains available

This possibility of listening to music directly from your watch, without having to take your smartphone with you when you go to train, has been supported for several years. For its part, Deezer also communicates on the availability of its application on Fitbit watches and even offers three months free of Deezer Premium for users of Fitbit watches.

Fitbit’s decision not only follows the abandonment of music functions on its last two watches, but also the end of the ability to transfer music files since last year. However, Fitbit continues to point to Spotify for streaming music, especially on the Fitbit Sense product sheet:“Download hundreds of apps for fitness, sports and entertainment, from Uber and United Airlines to Spotify and TRX”. Remember also that the Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4 do not allow you to download third-party applications.

Fitbit has given no explanation for ending support for the two music streaming apps on its previous models.
