From now on, masks must be worn by everyone from the age of six on streets or squares even if the safety distance of 1.5 meters can be maintained.
From July 20, the police begin issuing fines. The penalties should be up to 100 euros. However, the exceptions have been made generously. An overview:
Mask: compulsory on the promenade, not in nature
If you sit on the beach or at the hotel pool, you can take off your mask. If you hike in the wild outside of villages or cities, you can also move without a mask.
If you take a walk on a path or a promenade by the sea, the mask requirement does not apply there either. Of course, the shore area at the famous Playa de Palma also belongs to it.
In restaurants: no mask needed
The mask may also rest next to the user in restaurants or bars. The utensil does not have to be put on again and again between bites and swallows.
Initially, it was prescribed to leave the mask on as long as you do not have any food or drinks, but this regulation no longer applies.
Mask must be worn in cinemas and theaters
If you smoke, you can also remove the mask. Young people under the age of 16 who meet people they know well do not need to wear masks either.
The mask must be worn not only on streets or squares, but also in the following other places: In cinemas or theaters, it must be put on, unless one is drinking or eating.
Only 50 percent of the usual children in normal times are allowed to go up to playgrounds.
Mandatory on buses and planes
Masks have been mandatory on public transport such as buses or planes for a long time. This also applies to the famous historic train to Sóller and to excursion boats from Port de Sóller to Sa Calobra.
Rules for large events
The regional government is also regulating the maximum number of visitors and participants in certain events:
- A maximum of 250 people can attend weddings. Overall, only 75 percent of the people attending these events in normal times are allowed.
- At other family celebrations, only a maximum of 70 people may participate outdoors and 30 in closed rooms.
- A maximum of 30 people – musicians and visitors – can take part in concert events.
