Beat Saber confirms a PlayStation VR2 version in development

Last night a Sony conference was held at CES 2023, the largest show dedicated to new technologies in Las Vegas. If the video game is not the central subject of the American event, we still had a fairly substantial aside on the PlayStation VR2. In addition to learning that Gran Turismo 7 will be entitled to its virtual reality version at launch, we had confirmation that a PSVR2 version was in development for Beat Saber, the particularly popular rhythm game.

Beat Saber in more beautiful and more fluid?

Unfortunately, we shouldn’t expect a plethora of information: during his time on stage, Jim Ryan simply confirmed that a PlayStation VR2 version was in the works for the rhythm game, and that was it. No image, no trailer, and the developers just relayed the officialization on Twitter without giving more details. It is therefore not known what improvements will be made or to what extent Beat Saber will take advantage of Sony’s headphone features.

The announcement of a PSVR2 version is not really surprising when you know its success. We imagine that this version will benefit from an optimization, with a prettier, more fluid rendering and compatible with the new controllers. But the big question that will burn on our lips until confirmed, when is the upgrade and will we be able to transfer our packs to PlayStation VR2. A legitimate question since we know that the headset will not be backward compatible and will not allow you to play the versions of the first PlayStation VR. Players are already wondering if we can transfer all the music packs purchased so far, and if so, at what price.

While waiting for an answer, we will have to wait but the developers promise us details soon. No release date or period has been announced for this new version. As for the helmet, it will be marketed on February 22, 2023.
