For the next edition of "Schlag den Star" the fans can look forward to a duel between two former national players.

The first "Schlag den Star" edition of the new year is going to be sporty – and it is under the name of the protagonists' nicknames. As the broadcaster ProSieben announced, ex-handball national player Pascal Hens (40) and former national soccer player Kevin Großkreutz (32) will compete against each other on February 6th. The two also announced their participation in the show on Instagram.

French fries versus fish

The two were world champions with their respective national teams, Pascal "Pommes" Hens 2007 at the home World Cup, Kevin "Fisch" Großkreutz 2014 in Brazil. However, when it comes to the national team career, Hens is one step ahead: The 2.03 meter tall former backcourt player was a pillar of the German Handball Federation for many years, for which he played 199 games. Großkreutz was part of the squad at the 2014 World Cup, but remained unused throughout the tournament.

In the ProSieben press release, the two make each other announcements in advance. Hens: "Your nickname is fish ?! Well, the fish goes swimming. And whoever bathes in my waters is fried immediately!" Großkreutz's answer: "He only plays handball because it was one centimeter too small for basketball. The fries are skewered today!"

Hens and Großkreutz duel in up to 15 rounds, the winner receives 100,000 euros. Moderator Elton (49) leads through the evening, Ron Ringguth (54) comments on the individual games. The show will be broadcast live on ProSieben on February 6th from 8:15 p.m.
